Tonhalle Society Zurich

The Tonhalle Society Zurich is the supporting association of the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich as well as the organiser of various concert formats and series, amounting to more than 150 performances per season. To supplement its concerts in Zurich, the Orchestra undertakes international tours and carries Zurich’s reputation as a lively musical city out into the world’s renowned musical centres.
During the renovation period of the historical Tonhalle by the Lake from 2017 to 2020, the Tonhalle Society Zurich has built the interim venue Tonhalle Maag in Kreis 5, mainly financed through its own and private means. Within a short time the new concert hall has established itself as a hub of classical music. With its excellent acoustics, its unpretentious yet elegant and award-winning architecture and its post-industrial site it already radiates far beyond Switzerland.
The Tonhalle Society Zurich and the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich see themselves as an important part of the city’s and region’s cultural life, and feel a strong connection with the people of Zurich, not least due to the ensemble’s 150-year-old tradition. The Tonhalle Society Zurich is organised as an association with a current membership of some 1,200. New members are very welcome!
