Janine Jansen plays Bernstein's «Serenade»
Listen to our concert with Janine Jansen and Paavo Järvi on Radio SRF 2 Kultur.
«In everything she plays, I hear something I've never heard before»: that's what Paavo Järvi says about Dutch violinist Janine Jansen – and anyone who has experienced our former Focus artist at her recent Zurich performances knows what he means. Jansen always seems to play completely out of the moment; she doesn't deliver standard versions of the works, but rather very personal, unique pieces that can sound completely different at the very next performance. This time she takes on the solo part in Leonard Bernstein's Serenade after Plato's «Symposium»: it is a work about love, which with Jansen will undoubtedly also become one about the love of music.
