Conductors' Academy
With the newly created Academy, the Tonhalle-Gesellschaft Zürich wants to provide the next generation of conductors – in addition to their technical skills – with an insight into the management of a concert hall and orchestra. «With the Academy we want to use all potential and create an unique programme,» says Ilona Schmiel.
«As a musician and conductor, you gain a lot of experience in the course of your career and are able to build on what you've learned. It is important to me to pass on my knowledge. I was lucky enough to come across great mentors, not just in my family. Leonard Bernstein, among others, was one of them and he taught me a lot. It is therefore my duty to pass this on to young people, to share the experience and knowledge.»
